[Kdrama Recommendation] Mandate of Heaven, Heartless City

Mandate of Heaven
Now Watching: Ep 14

This is such an underrated in comparison of the essence of its production to the ones who are getting more popularity but with lesser substance to what this drama has to offer to the viewers. Seriously.

Synopsis:

This is a sageuk (historical) drama series about a royal physician blessed with an extraordinary skills in traditional medicine. His prowess is mostly driven by the need to attend to the sickness of his own child. He is undeniable despite of him pretending to be a quack one in order to limit his responsibility as he wanted to be a devoted father to Rang. However, part of his good nature is helping everyone in need in cases of emergency and that includes their successful recovery story after, to which a young lady (Da In) who now works in the palace alongside him as a nurse owed him her life. Leading to their path of familiarity to each other is a tough journey ahead after the physician (Choi Won) got wrongly accused of a crime he is innocent of.

He became a fugitive of the Joseon Dynasty after his knife which he uses in the medical practice was found at the scene of crime where a common friend (Physician Min Do Saeng) of him and Crown Prince Lee Ho was murdered even being the head of the medical team. Well in fact, it was scripted by the traitors in the inner court circle of the palace, who attempted to poison the crown prince by putting pressure at the primary physician. Through this process is a King that suffers complications due to his illness and with lesser capability of running the dynasty thus the postponement to the resolution of the issue. In order for Choi Won to clear the charges under his name and so he could resume curing his sick daughter, he sought for the answers as a runaway.

Now Watching: Ep 5

I heard of this drama for the first time in one of the blogs I follow. The author pretty much emphasized how much I am missing out from not watching it and that's how I was being influenced. So I did a thorough research about this drama, to hear a resounding favorable consistent reviews. And aside from such an intriguing passion of its viewers, it's a good thing that it was produced by a cable channel in Korea which gives me hope of something new to watch. I felt more secured of the a great experience to come my way while watching. Plus the fact that I am only familiar to only one of their casts (Nam Gyu Ri from 49 days) is an advantage I'd grab for myself in order to be introduced to new actors and talents armed with remarkable potentials. *crosses fingers in anticipation*
