Synopsis:
It's a story of two families that crossed each other's paths brought by the circumstances that took place in their lives. To cut the introduction short, such situations can be compared to a relationship between two individuals having a common friend by which they are both not aware of until months or years later. Though that's not exactly how the story would go, I just felt like they could have done a better work at masking the coincidences which are deliberate and obvious. Perhaps they could have narrowed their chances to butt in to each others' role in the drama. Nonetheless, such miss catch doesn't make me love it any lesser even with the potential improvement in making it more realistic than the script. Despite of the could haves, the actors however are effective to make up for the roles given to them. Moreover, the series had to be extended due to being a top rated drama in Korea reaching as high as 48% audience share.
To introduce the family backgrounds, let me start off with Hwan's family who was acted by Lee Seung Gi. Theirs had undergone pressure to deal with the matter of inheritance which is at stake. Hwan was privileged to be raised of a good life from the business which was founded by his grandmother out of perseverance, passion and hardwork. Because it was no easy for grandma to reach the the level of success, she wanted her grandchildren to follow the same manner starting off from scratch and as a result, she challenged Hwan to prove himself rightful. She sent Hwan to where it would teach him the basic knowledge of their business which is to a humbling work of a follower. With proper training and experiences acquired, the next aim is to go up the ladder later on. However, as the nature of Hwan belittles obedience and respect, a stubborn brat as he is, refuses to comply and decided to create unnecessary commotions that caused headache to the company workers as well as to the family.
On the hand, Han Hyo Joo as Go Eun Sung is a family oriented daughter and sister who has dedication to be a better person for her loved ones. Their father is a dignified man who has taught them the value of communication, understanding and respect within the family. Similar to Hwan, she was also given privileged life to experience the same childhood and mindset growing up. Her father has built a company to establish himself as an architect. Unfortunately, their company went into bankruptcy unknown to their knowledge so her father was left to take responsibility of the liabilities otherwise his family will be vastly affected by the crisis. More unfortunate events happened after the loss and when Eun Sung and his special child brother was ditched by their bitchy step mom. Regardless of what had happened, Eun Sung chose to stick to her principles and let the thought of revenge go as she distanced herself from their whereabouts. Because I was drawn into watching and my emotions were overflowing as a viewer, I felt so frustrated at the lack of bitchslap to step mom seriously. I can just sigh... They should have noticed earlier the true motives of the old witch.

Not to go into the details, I assure that the 28 episodes are totally worth it of your time and energy. Definitely! I was sleeping at 6AM because I can't stop myself from watching and it keeps me wanting for more. I can just share the aftermath of what this drama has turned me into. I became a huge follower of Lee Seung Gi's drama and career while Han Hyo Joo and Moon Chae Won became two of my favorite actresses ever.
Overall, this series was a success aside from it being considered as a breakthrough drama to those artists I just mentioned. It's one of my favorites of all time and because of that I will rate it 4.8/5 which is an excellent one! It's a MUST WATCH!
