Review: Cinderella's Sister

We're used to seeing Cinderella as the main character in the old Disney classics which has became the norm to every story. However, this time around, the story was rewritten to revolve around the life of her step-sister, Eun Jo. Because of Cinderella's anticipation of developing a close relationship to the new additions to their family, with her usual clingy self, to her attempt scared step-sister away. She has pushed the button to Eun Jo's resistance towards her; moreover, doubting her sincerity to communicate. As step mom is now focused in pleasing Cinderella, Eun Jo has thrown bricks of jealousy but more of disgust in awareness that mother is just faking it. Due to conflicting attitude and character between the step-sisters; added with guilt towards the unreciprocated overwhelming act of kindness which suffocates Eun Jo, exhausted Cinderella's effort as well to some point; nonetheless, she was persistent of wooing Eun Jo with every ounce of strength she has. While on the process of making things work, the chances of a good sibling relationship has slimmed by the man that stands in between them. The prince charming, who is contrary to the tales, has treated Cinderella like  his sister and nothing more but has also shown great interest and care to Eun Jo - who was eventually touched by such gentlemanly gestures. As Cinderella can't win step sister's approval, she tried to win over Prince Charming but to her poor judgment, it happened to cause misunderstandings, enough to break relationships. Bearing the guilt from the past, Cinderella will face the consequence of her mistake. From here, the story really gets interesting after years have passed.

Characters:
I will not fail to remember how much this drama has changed my perception towards Taecyeon. Goodness, he was unbelievably submitting to his character as a shy boy who just reconnected with his first love. That was utterly cute, adorable and endearing in so many ways.

Through this drama series, I've discovered Chun Jeong Myung who just joined my long list of favorites. His smile was notably gorgeous while it purely reflects his feelings from the heart which was not only visually satisfying but at the same time flail-worthy at the sight of it. Him and Moon Geun Young had an oozing chemistry onscreen and I can't help but to ship them together as a couple. Obsessed with their make believe - I watched a lot of behind the scenes throughout and after; and I thought that they really looked good together. My wishful thinking is that they find each other along the way in the near future; or if not, team up for a new project if possible.

I like SeoWoo as an actress but as a Cinderella, she triggers annoyance at some point because of her childish and dependent self. I thought she could have grown a little bit. But the good side about her is she never quits. She's faired well with sufferings and was brave enough to conquer them which showed her great strength and character. I think that is admiring of her.

Umma and Appa's relationship was very instrumental in the story as well even though Umma - that step mom in a kdrama series - is an evident witch to their lives. Because of his genuine care, love, attention and sacrifices towards Eun Jo and step-mom as well as to everyone,  I was deeply moved  by the enormity of good qualities Appa has shown to them which were tear inducing in most parts. Though I do not wish for anybody to experience being cheated that way then later on whole-heartedly accepting it like a martyr.

Moon Geun Young lived up to her character as Eun Jo. From an insecure, detached and cold personality to a mature woman taking over great responsibilities. I think that this is one of her best projects so far, she looked amazing and her, together with Chun Jeong Myung complemented each other really well as a team. She's undeniably one of the best young actresses we have.

Overall:

This is just few of the dramas I've watched recently and I must say that I was really impressed from the start to the end of the series. There was no dull moment except for the far stretched love story. Though I'm not complaining.

My favorite scene:

OST: K-dramas really make good OSTs even the ones sang by idols. My favorite would have to be Yesung's song "It Has To Be You" because I get carried away everytime it was being played and the characters especially made a separate MV for this song which I think is daebak!

Rating: Very Good!
