First Impression: Heartless City Episode 3

Start. The beautiful view of the city yet full of dark elements around it. The theme of this drama is highlighted through the expressive contrast between black and orange that is evidently used in the cinematography. I see it as a good thing, I learned how to appreciate the tone of the mood that it wants to project. Usually, I am not a fan of sensible action dramas and such but this one is an exception.  Good job!

Who is Doctor's Son and why is he so heartless? Is this everything that is within his sense of being? Definitely not, I knew that I would be extracting more of him in the next episodes but why does he speak like that? It feels as if he's going to dominate this world as the King of all drug-lords. He speaks so highly, confident, fearless, and furthermore, heartless. I feel the need to know more of him, and find the reasons why he's doing this. Who is he exactly and what is his major drive for doing this?

Gyung Mi made this for Soo Min's hearty breakfast. I love the heart shaped egg she put on top of the kimchi fried rice which definitely looked tasty and made me crave for some Korean food. Why do k-dramas do this to me?

A letter that Gyung Mi wrote to Soo Min saying she's sorry for misunderstanding her - that is she's working as a hostes. Read Reference - Episode 1

Gyung Mi pushed through with her mission to meet one of the leaders of the drug dealing org, Meth Kim with the aim to introduce herself as willing to be part of them. Hyunmin went as well to support her even if he objected her decision. He made sure that he'd be able to locate her through the lipstick he gave her that has tracking device.

I dislike this scene, though. I hate how I'm having a hunch of what's going to happen after this episode.

She gave him a reassuring smile regardless. You love each other so much, promise me that you'll come back alive.

There she is with Meth Kim. He's doubtful of her but she finds her attractive regardless. Hyun Min and co learned of this place through the tracking device where he could catch Meth Kim but unfortunately, they were able to escape right before they entered. They even tagged Gyung Mi along with them. Nuu, I dislike where this mission is going to end already.

Safari sent one of his men to meet Jin Suk, only to be captured by the cops. I wonder, he clearly wanted to send her to the jail.

*Spazz* Doctor's Son's body is glorious. I totally did not expect it to be this way most especially that he looked skinny because it was all covered by suit most of the time. OT: Jung Kyung Ho, what a pleasant surprise! More incoherent spazz inside.

Soo's girlfriend during the time that Doctor's Son rescued him from the place that he was beaten so badly he could die. Of course, Soo is more important to him so he chose to save him first which makes sense. It was just a helpless situation, you only wanted your friend to survive and that's why you weren't able to save her. Now, I'm rationalizing things.

I totally understand where Soo's rage is coming from but at least let's try to understand where Ji Hyun's position too, Soo. I still feel for him though, it's hard for him to lose a loved one.

The story took us a bit to the old days where Ji Hyun, auntie Jin Suk and uncle Safari all lived together. This scene though, I have a feeling of familiar nostalgia. Old days, sometimes you really don't know when you will be missing it but sometimes all you could do is to be thankful of the memories you shared together.

Auntie Jin Suk and Doctor's Son Ji Hyun. The version of the past.

They used to be really happy back then, like that of a family even though they weren't blood related. Uncle Safari and Ji Hyun oftentimes pick fights and they used to be really playful with each other.

Meanwhile, Jin Suk was caught by the police, on that position. Apparently, the guy tried to rape her thus she made him suffer by using the heels of her shoes as her defense. She was amazing, lol. I had a good laugh at this, I thought she wouldn't stand a chance fighting him, I was wrong.

Let's move forward to this scene. Prior to this, Doctor's Son met an accident in coalition with the police and the girl that stabbed her. Remember that fake state witness who surrendered to the police only to confuse them? She's that girl. Ugh. What a nuisance to the plot, we have to deal with her, regardless. But yeah, it's the reason why he was all bloody but then he can't afford to go to the hospital because he might get caught by the police. So, he went to a convenience store where he always buy things to treat himself everytime he gets injured. This one is severe though. Adding to the situation, Soo Min wass being robbed alone at the counter. Coincidentally, Ji Hyun came in and interrupted the situation to pay his bill (so cool of him lol) but in the end, he helped out to Soo Min and knocked the robber down. Soo Min noticed though, that he was hurt. She came to him but she was has been pushed in the floor like that.

She shouldn't have come to him like that. Damn, this guy is always defensive. He even pointed her a knife in his wrong judgement to her concern. She gave her a band aid though (heck, lol) and without thinking much, he received it. In another note, this was the first encounter of them. I wonder, how are they meant to co exist in the series? Hmm. Interesting.

A bottle of soju for what? To forget the pain? Anyway, he was all sweat while doing a procedure to himself. What a badass human being, I meant a character.

Moving forward, the police, Doctor's Son and co, and Meth Kim's org all met at the scene. But the most interesting event was when Gyung Mi pointed the gun at Ji Hyun.

I will end it like this A cliff-hanger for everybody.
