Drama Recommendation: Angel Eyes

Characters:
·         Lee Sang Yoon – Park Dong Joo / Dylan Park
·         Kang Ha Neul – young Park Dong Joo
·         Goo Hye Sun – Yoon Soo Wan
·         Nam Ji Hyun – as young Yoon Soo Wan
·         Kim Ji Suk – Kang Ji Won
·         Seungri – Teddy

In a nutshell: This is a melodrama about Yoon Soo Wan (Goo Hye Sun) and Park Dong Joo’s (Lee Sang Yoon) love for each other in the past 12 years,  and the fate that they have to face after so many years that passed by.

Opinion:

Overall, I feel really satisfied having to come across a drama like this where I felt like despite the cliché story, the coincidences which are quite plenty and the loopholes it has in the transition, everything is just forgiven for the sake of its uniqueness. So what are these things maybe? I think that part of a deciding factor for me whether to continue watching a drama or just drop it like a hot potato is the first few minutes in episode one. Yes, you might judge me because I don’t have the patience to appreciate something after a while, but unless somebody has really motivated me, then I’m off to the next.

I think for this year, I haven’t really found a good k-drama for myself and so I was really itching to find one. My candidates few months ago were Miss Korea, Beyond the Clouds, God’s Gift and Big Man. Though I might still possibly watch these series in the future but I know they are not going to be as special as this one because okay, I have to admit that I play favorites sometimes. Hehe, anyway I just want to tell my frustrations in the past that drove me to feel that I won a lotto jackpot after a few missed opportunities. By the way, I just want to clear that probably one of those k-dramas that have been aired were better than this but for me, it’s all about your own preference so I’m just happy that Angel Eyes came along and the rest is just history for the last 2 days that my heart has been aching because of the story. SO I just decided to pour my heart out here even though I might look crazy and pathetic for being overly emotional.

I think that one of the main ingredients of this drama why I find it really effective and at the same time interesting is the casting. Perhaps, it was offered to some of the bigger names in the industry and those are the ones that really do have my respect (Lee Jun Ki and Han Ji Min) but now as I watch the drama, I wouldn’t trade any of them for a more popular or a more versatile actor depending on one’s opinion. I am contented with the way the actors are portraying their roles and I am pleasantly surprised that I really like Goo Hye Sun – because Boys Over Flowers was one of the not so good memories I have of hers. She’s become matured and I feel like they tailored the role for her. Considering that Nam Ji Hyun had my heart, I was skeptical of unnie but she did so well to be the older Soo Wan. Lee Sang Yoon on the other hand, I don’t know why I haven’t seen any of his past projects before even though he’s already one the veteran actors, so I think that this is a good chance for me to add another k-actor on my list of gorgeous, fine looking and I would find more reason to visit Korea someday. The younger Dong Joo – Kang Ha Neul was very charming and he looks so good in high school uniform. He also looked younger than he did in Heirs and I am so proud of how he’s performed. I am rooting for him as an actor and I hope he continues to grow in his craft.

The music – I really love the sound of this drama through the good music choice for the scenes. The OST could make a drop a tear just by listening to them.

Not overly dramatic – Even though this drama makes me cry, they don’t overdo it and that’s what I have observed and loved which could be annoying for me if they have unnecessary moments. They are always absolutely looking forward and staying positive.

Pacing - Part of why this drama won me over is that they portrayed a good background for the characters to grow. The way I see them now, all is affected by how they were in the past so the first two episodes were created to lay the foundation for the series which is a two thumbs up! With regards to the pacing, I think that they are doing well because I would never guess what to happen. I love the progress they have.

Cinematography - I love the color palette of this drama so much, it's very attractive for me. The dullness and at the same time the cheerful side of it is a good combination.

I’m currently on episode 8 and that’s how fast I am in watching for the past 2 days which is a surprise to me because for the last few months, I’m slow at appreciating dramas so it means a lot that I am entertained ~

Pyeong pyeong^^
MUST WATCH!!!
